Because it's really meant to like that. Up grading a lop top us not so much advisable to be done of user directly. The manufacturer can only provide an advisable action to repair a computer. This laptop must be 5 years old or more, so who will do upgrade on that kid of laptop. Memory upgrades in laptops are totally safe now, as you said "flip upside down and take a few screws out and you can swap out the memory" When did you seen last time laptop with memory under the keyboard.
